The Service - LightTime

01

GNSS-Independent Precision Time

LightTime does not originate from or depend on GPS or any other satellite navigation system, it provides a direct connection to national timing labs across the world. Use it standalone or alongside your existing GPS systems. Either way, you have an independent source to verify your timing against.

02

Traceable to the standard

Coordinated Universal Time is realized by national timing laboratories. Every TimeHub is referenced to those laboratories, so the time you receive is traceable to the standard itself. After on-site calibration the service delivers nanosecond-class accuracy to UTC, with sub-nanosecond sensitivity to change.

03

Delivered with proof

Every interval produces a signed record: the measured offset between your time and the standard, the uncertainty bound on that measurement, and the moment it was taken. To pass undetected an attacker would have to defeat a live measurement against the national standard.

Two operational modes

Take the TimeHub as your primary source. Or keep your grandmaster clocks, your vendors, and your distribution, and let the TimeHub observe and attest to your time. Switching between the two is a configuration change, and both modes are covered by one subscription.

The physical connection

LightTime is distributed via a series of “TimeHubs” across the globe. One TimeHub serves multiple users in a region. All you need is a hardline connection to your existing equipment. TimeHubs can optionally be colocated directly at your facility.

  1. Step 01

A TimeHub is installed at or near your facility.

  2. Step 02

Connect to the TimeHub via an existing or new hardline medium.

  3. Step 03

You run on LightTime, or verify your own clocks against it, with a signed record either way.

The subscription model

One subscription covers the service, whichever way you use it. Run on LightTime as your primary source, or keep your own clocks and let the TimeHub verify them. Switching between the two is a configuration change, not a new contract, and every interval comes with its signed record.

GNSS-Independent Time and Navigation Aids for Orbital and Mobile Platforms

TimeHubs provide GNSS-independent time to fixed users through hardline mediums. Those same hubs are the foundation of our service to provide time sync and navigation aids to orbital and mobile platforms.

LightTime extends the same principles it provides fixed users to its orbital and mobile service: full GNSS-independence, time traceable to national timing laboratories, delivered with a measured bound and a signed record. Orbital and mobile service has the added benefit of serving as a GNSS-independent navigation aid. Integrating successive LightTime observables can yield a full position and velocity solution while instantaneous snapshots can be used as an independent check against a user’s primary navigation system.

If you are interested in this service and want to help shape what we build, we would like to talk. The orbital and mobile service is in development. We are not publishing dates, coverage, or technical detail yet. Access to the orbital and mobile service will require the addition of a small transceiver on your platform.

Time you can trust. Proof you can show.
